AMMAN — HRH Princess Rym Ali, founder of the Jordan Media Institute (JMI), on Tuesday attended the graduation ceremony of the 12th batch of the JMI's master's students in journalism and modern media.
Princess Rym handed over certificates to the graduates, expressing pride in them for their resolve and determination despite the COVID-19 pandemic's repercussions, considering journalism as a 'lifestyle', the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
'We work to raise the voice of the voiceless, and when we succeed, the narratives we deliver will be one day part of the pluralism that characterises history,' she said.
Former Lebanese culture minister and UN envoy for Libya Ghassan Salame delivered a speech, via videoconference, during which he focused on three points: Freedom, truth and modernisation, calling on the graduates not to make decisions based on rumours or half facts.
He also urged them to constantly adapt with developments in the world of telecommunications, especially with the advent of the non-stop technological revolution.
JMI Dean Myrna Abu Ziad congratulated graduates and highlighted the importance of restoring truth through differentiating between facts and opinion and committing to professionalism and gaining the trust of audiences.
Student Raeda Nairoukh, the top achiever of the class, delivered the graduates' speech, expressing joy and pride in passing an exceptional year due to the pandemic that forced a transition to online education.
