Georgia deems Russia’s request to NATO as “unacceptable”


(MENAFN) On Saturday, Georgia's Foreign Ministry stated that Russia's request for annulling of NATO vow to admit Ukraine and Georgia is "unacceptable.

Georgian Foreign Ministry declared in a written statement that the resolution of the Bucharest Summit in 2008 was recommenced at all NATO conferences.

Welcoming the Ukraine and Georgia's ambitions for membership, NATO Associates decided at the Bucharest Summit in 2008 that these nations are going to become allies of NATO.

The statement also mentioned that it is Georgia's "sovereign decision to join NATO, one that is based on the unwavering will of the Georgian population. This aim is also reflected in Georgia's Constitution."
