(MENAFN) On Wednesday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson made an apology to the UK amidst mounting anger in the country following a leaked video that showed team making jokes about a Christmas party at Downing Street the previous year in the midst of a curfew.
Johnson along with his Cabinet had been stubborn for over a week that no laws were violated during late last year, after The Mirror newspaper declared that various parties with 40 to 50 individuals were held and huge quantities of alcohol drunk.
Moreover, Johnson reported to legislators in Parliament, “I can understand how infuriating it would be to think that the people who have been setting the rules have not been following the rules.”
And added, “I apologize unreservedly for the offense that it has caused up and down the country and I apologize for the impression that it gives. I repeat that I have been repeatedly assured since these allegations emerged that there was no party, and that no COVID rules were broken.”
