Lebanese economy minister: Kordahi should quit amid Gulf-Lebanon row
(MENAFN) Lebanon’s economy minister stated to The National, that George Kordahi, the Information Minister has to quit to resolve a deteriorating diplomatic dispute between Lebanon and Gulf nations triggered by his provocative remarks the past week.
Amin Salam, economy minister declared that Kordahi quitting his position would demonstrate “some positivity and defuse the escalation.”
He added, “otherwise, we are going to a bad place and showing that we are willing to jeopardise the entire country for one minister. It does not reflect well.”
The kingdom blocked all imports coming from Lebanon and ordered its ambassador to leave the country within 24 hours on Friday after the information minister condemned its existence in Yemen and expressed support for Houthi militant group backed by Iran during a television interview.
