Meat industry cautions creation could be struck by CO2 scarcity

(MENAFN) Spokespersons of the industry have been in urgent discussions with the government over the disaster which is an unplanned result of the Europe-wide increase in natural gas costs.

CO2 is employed in dazing animals before killing them as well as for vacuum-packing meat goods - but that CO2 is the secondary product of the creation of fertiliser.

The disaster encountered set to be "a lot worse" than a preceding CO2 scarcity happened in 2018, the British Meat Processors Association (BMPA) declared in a report.

The BMPA stated, "CO2 gas plays a critical and irreplaceable role in the food and drink manufacturing process and businesses can grind to a halt if they cannot secure an adequate supply."
