Professor Penny Moore is a reader and DST/NRF SARChI Chair of Virus-Host Dynamics at the University of the Witwatersrand, a Senior Scientist at the National Institute for Communicable Diseases, and a Research Associate at CAPRISA, UKZN. She obtained her MSc in Microbiology at WITS, studying adenoviruses. This was followed by a PhD in Virology (Medicine) studying the Hepatitis B virus at the University of London in 2003 before returning to South Africa. Her current research focuses on HIV broadly neutralizing antibodies and their interplay with the evolving virus.
