CRA, Huawei launch 'Seeds for the Future' programme


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: In collaboration with the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), Huawei launched today the 5th edition of its annual learning programme“Seeds for the Future” in Qatar, which is held virtually from 23-30 August 2021.

It is being under the patronage of CRA President Mohammed Ali Al Mannai, and with the participation of 34 students from Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and Community College of Qatar.

Huawei's“Seeds for the Future” programme is organized in partnership with a number of academic institutions and relevant government entities, with the aim of supporting the development of local Information and Communications Technology (ICT) talents, by educating students about the latest technologies and ICT trends and enhancing international knowledge transfer amongst them. This will ultimately encourage their role in building the digital economy and developing a stronger and more sustainable technology ecosystem in their countries.

During the eight-day programme, the participating students will have the opportunity to learn more about cutting-edge technologies such as Fifth Generation (5G) technology, cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT) through live-stream sessions and pre-recorded courses available on Huawei's free online platform iLearningX and through hands-on workshops that will be conducted in collaboration with universities and partners from the public sector. In addition to exploring Huawei's exhibition halls, campus, and stores through virtual tours.

Commenting on the launch, Zhao Liang, President of Huawei Gulf North said:“Qatar's technology ecosystem is continuing to evolve rapidly. In order to keep up with this transformation, it is vital we invest in the youth of today and ensure they have the tools needed to participate in building the future digital society. As part of our commitment to continuously developing local talent in Qatar, we are honored to launch the latest edition of Huawei's Seeds for the Future programme with our partners at Qatar.”

Therefore, the efforts of the government, academia, and businesses are needed to enrich the knowledge and skills of young talents in Qatar and help them excel and innovate in the ICT sector. Finally, I would like to thank Huawei for their efforts and dedication to inspiring youth talents in Qatar and globally,” said Mohammed Ali Al-Mannai, President of CRA.

This year the programme also includes the newly launched“Tech4Good” project, which challenges participants to examine how to leverage technology to address the region's most pressing social and environmental issues. 

“It will also encourage students to increase their social entrepreneurship, problem solving, and leadership skills through teamwork with participating students from many different countries from around the world.

Participants will present their projects to a panel of judges, out of which the top 10 global teams will be shortlisted to compete in a global finale competition at the end of 2021.
