US Health Agencies Sued As Donald Trump Govt Removes Key Data From Websites

(MENAFN- Live Mint) Major US health agencies are facing a lawsuit for deleting "a broad range of health-related data and other information" after President Donald Trump took office. The case was initiated by Doctors for America amid a continued DEI purge by the new administration. Several government affiliated websites have removed information after Trump mandated by executive order that the US would only recognise only two sexes - male and female.

According to a Reuters report, the lawsuit was filed in a Washington DC federal court and names the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Food and Drug Administration, Department of Health and Human Services and the Office of Personnel Management.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has removed key information and datasets in recent days - including details on HIV, contraception guidance and more. Disparities known as the Social Vulnerability Index and Environmental Justice Index, as well as information about LGBTQ youth were also no longer accessible. The website also removed lessons on building supportive school environments for transgender and nonbinary students.

The development also came days after federal government websites removed references to what the POTUS calls 'gender ideology' - replacing“gender” with“sex” to comport with a recent order.

Meanwhile the Bureau of Prisons has stopped reporting the number of transgender incarcerated people.

Reports and topic pages on the US Census Bureau site - outlining details about the gender identity, sexual orientation and characteristics of the population also returned errors.

A message on Friday afternoon for one topic page titled“Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity” read,“The area of census that you are trying to access is currently unavailable due to maintenance.”

Another page titled“Mental Health Struggles Higher Among LGBT Adults Than Non-LGBT Adults in All Age Groups” also was unavailable. Archives of both pages show they were accessible within the past week.
