Ukraine, UK to increase collaboration in reformation of coal regions
(MENAFN) Transformation of the coal sector and the steady renunciation of thermal generation play key role in contributing to decarbonization and climate neutrality.
Ukrinform said as cited by the ministry’s that this was noted by the Ukrainian Minister of Energy of German Galushchenko who had an assembly with British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons.
Galushchenko stated: "decarbonisation is one of the key challenges we’re facing. [...] This is a question, first of all, of modernization and replacement of thermal generation. The second aspect is transformation of the coal industry and regions. It is important for us to implement a pilot project on transformation and spread this experience to other mines."
The Ministry of Energy is already collaborating with the British side in the realization of the venture of reformation of one of the coal mines and is all set for assemblies at the working level with delegates of the Environmental Resources Management international consultancy to conclude the mine selection as early as possible. The parties talked about technical problems and concurred on means to speed up project accomplishment.
