Qatar- QFA postpones the Amir Cup semi-final matches

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) QNA Doha: Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced Saturday the postponement of the Amir Cup semi-final, as a precautionary measure based on the participation of Al Sadd, Al Duhail and Al Rayyan in the AFC Champions League matches.

The Qatar Football Association (QFA) said in a statement that it decided to postpone the two semi-final matches of the Amir Cup to be held on May 9-10 instead of May 6-7 as previously scheduled.

This decision comes due to the participation of Al Sadd, Al Duhail and Al Rayyan clubs in the AFC Champions League matches that were held in Saudi Arabia and India. It was made as a precaution after the return of the clubs to the country, especially those coming from India since Qatar imposed new restrictions in this regard.

The decision has been announced in accordance with the precautionary measures and preventive measures imposed by the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management and the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH).

Al Sadd and Al Arabi will meet on Sunday, May 9 in the first semi-final, and Al Duhail and Al Rayyan will play on May 10.

The two matches will be held at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium at exactly 10:00pm. QFA said a penalty shoot-out will be played in case of a tie in regulation time. The two winners from the two matches will qualify for the final (fourth stage), which will be held on May 14 at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

It is worth noting that the two matches of the semifinal round of the Amir Cup will be held without fans in the stands to protect the health and safety of everyone.
