UNESCO's resolution welcomed by Jordanian gov’t

(MENAFN) The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) proposed a resolution on the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls, in a step that was highly admired by the Jordanian government on Wednesday.

Jordan's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Deifallah Fayez said Wednesday that The UNESCO Executive Board approved a resolution during its 211th session that pondered all Israeli activities aimed at shifting the nature of the holy city and its legal current situation as worthless and void.

As per the ministerial statement, the resolution was the outcome of Jordanian diplomatic exertions in collaboration with Palestinians and the Arab and Islamic groups in the organization.

Fayez further included that the resolution urges Israel to stop its illegal and one-sided actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls.
