Mongolia: 5.5-magnitude earthquake jolts Khuvsgul

(MENAFN) Mongolia's Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics said that early on Wednesday, Mar. 31 a 5.5-magnitude quake jolted Mongolia's northern province of Khuvsgul.

The institute noted in a report that the earthquake took place around 37 km west of Khankh, a soum or district of the province, about 8:01 a.m. local time (0001 GMT).

The earthquake was sensed over the province, but no damage has been announced, said the agency.

A number of earthquakes over a magnitude of 5 have hit Mongolia in 2021, comprising a 6.5-magnitude earthquake that jolted Khankh in the first month of the year.
