The Integrated Transport Centre Announces Limited-Term Permits for Public Parking Spaces
(MENAFN- ITC Media) Abu Dhabi on Monday, March 8, 2021 – The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi announced that MAWAQiF launched a new service that will better serve the public who regularly use standard parking spaces. Customers, individuals and companies, can now apply for a limited-term parking permit to be used in standard surface public parking spaces, marked with black and blue paint, in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain cities. With this permit, customers who regularly use public parking spaces will be able to use them without the need of daily payment. Noting that the permit is only eligible to be used in standard parking, and cannot be used in residents, villa areas or premium parking spaces marked with white and blue paint.
Permits can be issued for a month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. The fees for a monthly permit costs AED 391, AED 1174 for 3 months, AED 2348 for 6 months and AED 4695 for a whole year.
Companies and individuals may benefit from this service by issuing the permit for each of their vehicles as long as it doesn’t bear a public plate number. Additionally, different entities, mail delivery companies and service providers may also issue the permit for their vehicles or motorcycles.
It is important to note that the limited-term permit does not replace resident parking permits. However, it replaces the daily parking ticket for standard parking which cost AED 2 per hour and AED 15 for a whole day.
The limited-term parking permit does not allow the user to reserve a parking, use reserved parking spaces or park in prohibited areas. The permit is issued online so there is no need to place it at the front window of the vehicle. ITC stated that customers may amend their permits’ details.
In case a permit holder will be travelling, it is important that he/she submit a storing vehicle request for the vehicle to be placed in dedicated parking spaces and avoid getting it towed as it would be considered an abandoned vehicle.
Customers interested in issuing the permit are requested to apply for the service online through - E-services section. For the permit request, the customer should submit Emirates ID and vehicle registration card.
It is worth to mention that this initiative is part of the efforts ITC is dedicating to offer long-term solutions to manage parking spaces in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The new permit is launched for the convenience of the customers and facilitate their daily commutes without worrying about parking fees.
