Qatar- Ashghal completes 28km TSE network at Al Kharaitiyat

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced completion of all works related to constructing 28 km-long Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) network to irrigate green areas in Al Kharaitiyat and surrounding areas.

This TSE network also covers Rawdat Egdaim, Rawdat Al Jahhaniya, Jeryan Al Saham, Rawdat Al Thamid, Jarry Al Dhabi, Izghawa and Al Froush, according to a statement.

Jamal Ajina, project engineer and engineering projects expert in Ashghal's Roads Projects Department, pointed out that the scope of works included constructing a TSE Network covering the needs of eight areas in north of Doha through extending new pipelines from Al Kharaitiyat in the Al Rayyan Municipality towards Umm Slal Municipality.

The project is surrounded by Al Shamal Road in the east and Al Majd Road in the west as well as Dukhan Highway in the south.

The newly constructed network collects all TSE while distributing it to irrigate the green areas, parks and landscapes alongside these roads as well as Riffa Street and the green areas on the sides of the bicycle path.

This is to ensure a sustainable exploitation of TSE to increase the green space in the area. The upgrading works included extending 28-km-long TSE lines using fine tunneling technology and the open cutting method. The network was implemented at an average depth ranging between 2 to 5 m underground.

The works also included the installation of 42 control valve rooms, 49 rooms and wash basins, 32 air valves rooms and 63 distribution rooms in addition to control valves and communication rooms, Ajina explained.

This project forms as a link in the TSE network between Al Shamal Road and Dukhan Road in North Doha and serves several areas that witness significant urban growth as it provides and connects TSE lines of other existing projects in the area.

It also minimises the pressure on local water resources including water desalination and groundwater well drilling.

The project comes as part of Ashghal's commitment to encourage sustainability and recycling to reuse TSE.
