Cordova named Qatar U-23 coach

Doha: Qatar Football Association (QFA) yesterday announced Chilean Nicolas Cordova as the new Under-23 national team coach.

The former midfielder will manage the Qatar's U-23 squad which is getting ready for key events in 2021 and beyond.

Cordova has played for several South American clubs and has experienced of representing Chile national teams.

He also coached the Chile U-20 team in 2015.

Cordova began his career in Colo-Colo of Chile in the top flight. He played from 1997 until 2001 playing 54 matches and scoring three goals.

In the 200405 season, he played Livorno. In September 2008, he was signed for Grosseto.

Qatar U-23 squad will take part in the 2022 AFC U-23 Championship qualifying phase at a later date next year.
