Jordan- 78 new COVID-19 fatalities, 4,586 infections recorded


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov 24 (Petra) Seventy-eight coronavirus deaths and 4,586 infections were recorded in the Kingdom Tuesday, bringing the death toll since the outbreak began to 2,380 and the total number of cases to 192,996, according to the Health Ministry.
The cases were: 1,810 in Amman, 663 in Irbid, 466 in Zarqa, 349 in Mafraq, 330 in Balqa, 290 in Madaba, 189 in Ajloun, 157 in Aqaba, 141 in Tafileh, 96 in Karak, 51 in Ma'an and 44 in Jerash, according to the daily media brief by the Prime Ministry and the Health Ministry.
It said that the number of active COVID-19 cases currently reached 65,183, while 241 patients infected with the virus were admitted to accredited hospitals today, and 256 were discharged after they recovered.
It said that a total of 2,128 cases are currently hospitalized, including 460 in intensive care.
According to the report, 5,419 patients in home isolation and in hospitals recovered today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 125,433.
The Ministry also said that 24,664 swab tests were taken today, bringing the total number of tests since the start of the pandemic to 2,408,242, adding that the positivity rate for today was about 18.6 percent.
It urged adherence to defense orders and preventive measures, mainly wearing masks, avoiding gatherings of more than 20 people as well as following an awareness campaign launched by the ministry to prevent infection and encourage individuals to protect their families and communities.
