(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Friday reported 1,172 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 1,460 recoveries. Two deaths were also reported.
As many as 143,336 new Covid-19 tests were carried out, taking the total to nearly 13 million tests so far.
The UAE recorded an astounding 96.8 per cent recovery rate of Covid-19 patients as it reported 1,500 recoveries yesterday. The country has also achieved a recovery rate of 96.7 per cent and mortality rate of 0.5 per cent, the lowest in the world. Lauding the government's robust support to the healthcare sector and implementation of the Covid safety measures, doctors said that the measures have helped the number of new Covid cases 'stabilise and increase in the recovery rate significantly. This became possible because of the aggressive measures taken by the government to enforce anti-Covid protocols. Also, widened Covid testing has helped detect asymptomatic cases. The strict implementation of quarantine has helped to keep the spread in check. However, the government is continuously urging the public to follow safety norms and the enforcement of various fines has definitely helped.
Meanwhile, the residents are all set to welcome a ‘safe and sanitised' fourth edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) today. The annual event is one of the most sought events where families and individuals break a sweat, irrespective of their fitness levels. The event will kick off with more than 200 virtual sessions and 2,000 classes across 150 locations with strict safety and hygiene regulations, social distancing guidelines and sanitisation requirements.
The authorities have also announced the reopening of the Dubai Miracle Garden and Al Ain's Jebel Hafit Desert Park from this Sunday with strict safety measures in place. All necessary measures and protocols have been put in place in line with the government health authority's requirements and procedures.
