Bomb explosion in Afghanistan leaves 8 militants dead

Provincial government spokesman of Kunduz province of Afghanistan, Esmatullah Muradi, said that an explosion that took place prematurely in the province has resulted in the death of 8 Taliban activists, their commander Mullah Saif Rahman among them.

The official said that "a group of insurgents under Mullah Safi Rahman were planting a mine on a road in Ali Abad district early today morning to target security forces convoys but the device exploded accidentally, killing eight including their commander on the spot".

The official also said that two more activists have been seriously wounded in the explosion.

Two Taliban militants died and two others were wounded as a mine blew up in Khawja Ghar district of Takhar province on Monday in a separate incident.
