(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Vodafone Qatar has launched the Explorer Plan, a new postpaid plan for parents to stay in touch with their children and know they are safe while they explore, learn and discover things out of sight.
Through Endless Internet and 250 minutes of local calls and SMS for QR50 per month, parents can easily stay connected with their children, the company said in a statement.
Under the plan, children can use local minutes and SMS interchangeably. Endless Internet will be available at full speed for 1GB and thereafter at 64Kbps speed for unlimited usage. The 64Kbps data speed rate gives children a sufficient amount of bandwidth to stay connected with their parents using popular messenger services, the statement notes.
Shavkat Berdiev, director, consumer business unit at Vodafone Qatar, said: 'Vodafone understands the responsibility parents feel while enabling kids with connectivity, and therefore it ensures the right amount of data to stay connected always, but also limits excessive digital behaviour. The Explorer Plan empowers parents to give their children the confidence to make full use of their digital freedom with the peace of mind and assurance that they can always get in touch.
The new Explorer Plan is 'one more step towards ensuring that parents are equipped with the right tools to nurture their children to become global citizens of an increasingly hyper-connected world, the statement points out.
Vodafone Qatar stressed that it has 'continued its efforts towards child safety and well-being since the launch of its digital safety programme, AmanTECH, in 2014.
Among its initiatives, the AmanTECH Augmented Reality App game adopts a playful approach to highlight how young users can be safe online, while online resources available to parents include a digital parenting guide and digital safety tips for parents, accessible at www.vodafone.qa/AmanTECH
Parents need to have an existing Vodafone postpaid plan of QR120 or above to sign their child up for the Explorer Plan. This plan is available at Vodafone retail stores only and requires the Qatari ID of both parent and child.
