Kuwait- Nat'l Assembly approves 2 draft laws on borders with S. Arabia


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- During the Kuwaiti National Assembly's supplementary session Wednesday, in the first and second deliberations, lawmakers signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia for partitioning the neutral zone.
The National Assembly also approved to delimit the submerged area adjacent to the partitioned neutral zone, called the Submerged Zone Division Agreement and referred it to the government, discussing the report of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee on the two draft laws.
The result of the vote for MoU concluded with 54 out of 60 members approving it, during the first session.
During the second session, MoU was approved by 55 members, as well as rejected by six out of 61 members.
The voting result of Submerged Zone Division Agreement during the first and second deliberations concluded with 55 members approving, rejected by seven members out of 62.
The first article of the draft law approving the MoU stated that appendices No. 1-4 were attached, whereas, in the first article of the Submerged Zone Division Agreement, appendices No. 1-3 were attached.
Both draft laws signed in Kuwait City on December 24th 2019 included accompanying texts of these laws. (end)
