(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Jan. 5 (Petra)- The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), represented by its First Vice Chairman, Nabil Khatib, and Board Member Maher Youssef, has participated in the 2019 Silk Road Business Summit, recently held in the Chinese city of Xi'an, at the invitation of the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC) in China.
According to a press release issued by the ACC on Sunday, several countries and official bodies at all levels and ambassadors of countries that have "strong" trade relations with China also participated in the summit, as did representatives of many trade and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
The summit has discussed many working papers that focused on the importance of strengthening trade relations between China and other countries, including the Arab nations through the "Belt and Road" initiative, which helps to replace conflicts with stability, remove barriers, and stimulate cooperation between the peoples of the region based on its joint development vision, the statement pointed out.
China's new Silk Road, which includes 96 countries, including 22 Arab countries, seeks to lay the foundations of security and peace, build prosperous economies that help eliminate unemployment and poverty, revive the ancient Silk Road, and develop trade relations between Asia, Europe, and Africa in economic areas such as infrastructure, industrial investment, human resources development and economic cooperation, cultural exchanges, communications and environmental protection.
In its statement, the ACC confirmed its continued periodic participation in the summit, given its importance in promoting investment and tourism opportunities in the Kingdom, and introducing the most important local products, as well as affiliation with the SRCIC.
