2 explosions at ammunition depot in southeast Turkey

(MENAFN) 16 military personnel and one civilian were wounded after 2 blasts occurred at an ammunition depot in southeast Turkey, as said on Thursday by Turkish officials.

The blasts took place late Wednesday at the command of a mechanized brigade in the region, which borders Syria, as said by Gov. Abdullah Erin of Sanliurfa province; adding that, the first blast triggered the second and the fire was quickly brought under control.

A civilian who was on the balcony of his home close to the location of the explosion was between the wounded as one of the injured military personnel was in critical situation, as said by the governor.

Investigations on the blast are ongoing and authorities believe a "technical" fault may have triggered them, as Erin said.
