Arab FMs to hold emergency meeting on Turkey's aggression on Syria

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- The Cairo-based Arab League on Wednesday said that Foreign Ministers would hold an emergency meeting on Saturday to discuss "the Turkish aggression" on the Syrian territories.
The planned meeting came upon Egypt's call that was supported by several member states, in consultation with Iraq's foreign minister, the current head of the league's ministerial level, said Assistant Secretary General Hossam Zaki in a statement.
The "Turkish aggression on Syria's territories constitutes an unacceptable assault on the Sovereignty of an Arab country," he added.
Turkey's incursion in Syria comes in exploitation of its conditions and the current developments, and runs counter to the international law rules, he pointed out.
Earlier in the day, Cairo called for holding an Arab League emergency meeting to discuss Turkey's military operation in the Syrian territories, and means of maintaining the Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity. (end)
