Oman- National Blockchain Application Symposium starts in Salalah

The National Blockchain Application Symposium, being held within the Oman Blockchain Club Forum, opened on Sunday at Millennium Resort Salalah.

The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Sheikh Salim bin Mustahail al Mashani, Advisor at the Diwan of Royal Court.

The first session of the seminar discussed the experiences of governmental institutions in the application of advanced technologies, including blockchain applications and the Internet of Things (IoT), the opportunities and challenges they face, in addition to reviewing the development of national capacities in government institutions and the mechanisms of their implementation.

The second session discussed the role of local companies in the application of blockchain, IoT and other advanced technologies and their role in accelerating the adoption of these technologies and their future projects in supporting this sector and ways of cooperation between them.

The third session reviewed the national capacities in blockchain, IoT and advanced technologies, the initiatives of academic institutions in the education and development of national capabilities and the role of the Blockchain Club in the implementation of preparatory programmes.

On the sidelines of the seminar, the National Blockchain Applications Exhibition was opened, which showcases government experiences in the application of advanced technologies, including blockchain technology, in addition to reviewing student projects related to this technology at the bachelor and master's levels, as well as the projects of Oman Blockchain Club's members.

Activities of Oman Blockchain Club aim at building professional national competencies capable of programming advanced applications using the blockchain technology platform.
