Sri Lanka- Muslim MPs to accept Ministerial posts again

(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Muslim Parliamentarians who resigned from their Ministerial posts following the Easter Sunday attacks, have decided to accept Ministerial posts again.

The decision was taken when they met today to decide on the future steps they must take.

The Muslim MPs, including those from the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, voted against the no-confidence motion on the Government in Parliament today.

All Muslim Ministers resigned from their portfolios in the Government early last month (June).

All Muslim State and Deputy Ministers had also tendered their resignations.

The Muslim Ministers resigned saying they are giving the Government one month to ensure the authorities investigate the allegations made against some Muslims Ministers over the Easter Sunday attacks.

The former Ministers had said that they will continue to support the Government and would expect the Government to protect the Muslim community.
