Legendary Frank Dux to Present Triangle of Force Seminar at 20th Masters Hall of Fame
(MENAFN- PRLog) LOS ANGELES - July 6, 2019 -PRLog-- Martial arts legend Kaiso Frank Dux, whose participation in the Kumite became the basis for the iconic 1988 film Bloodsport, will present a seminar on the "Triangle of Force" at the Masters Hall of Fame 20th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, July 27, at the Hilton Orange County Costa Mesa. Dux's session will open the daylong series of seminars at 8:30 a.m. Other sessions will feature such martial arts icons as kickboxing champion Sifu Kathy Long, Senior Master of the Arts Bob White and Grandmaster Darren Tibon.
Born in Canada and raised in California's San Fernando Valley, Dux was fascinated with the martial arts. Unable to afford tuition to any of the local schools, he recalls how he would watch through the window of such masters as Bill Ryusaki, Bob Ozman, Bong Soo Han, S.B. Moon, and John Leone. Through this eclectic "auditing" of styles, Dux developed his own mixed style that he later codified into what he called Dux Ryu Ninjutsu.
In 1975 Dux entered into the Kumite, an event that is considered by some as the predecessor for Mixed Martial Arts. It was said to be a no-holds-barred competition that matched fighters from around the world. His experience was written about in Black Belt Magazine in 1980 and later became the basis for the film Bloodsport, in which Jean-Claude Van Damme played Dux.
Dux was inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame in 2011, receiving the Platinum Life Achievement Award for his contributions to the martial arts. He was featured as the keynote speaker at the 2016 Masters Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony in San Antonio, Texas.
"It is an honor to have Frank Dux presenting his seminar on the Triangle of Force in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the Masters Hall of Fame," says Chairman Dr. Daniel Hect. "He is not only a legend in the martial arts but a man I am proud to call a friend."
The Masters seminars are free to Masters Guests and Inductees. However, donations will be accepted on behalf of the Royal Family Kids Camp. "This is going to be an awesome seminar series," says Dr. Hect. "These great leaders are giving of their time to share their knowledge and experience with our attendees and inductees. This is just another example of the quality of people in the organization."
The Masters Hall of Fame was founded in 1999 and is recognized as the premier Martial Arts event on the West Coast. The association recognizes exceptional Martial Arts Leaders and Legends through induction into the Masters Hall of Fame. Honorees are chosen for their dedication to the martial arts and their work in the community, as well as their successes.
