Amman, June 12 (Petra) -- Russia and Jordan are reliable and trustees partners in political, economic and cultural fields as the two countries enjoy excellent level of fruitful cooperation, supported by the distinguished personal relations between His Majesty King Abdullah and President Vladimir Putin, the Russian Ambassador to Amman Gleb Desiatnikov affirmed.
In an interview with Jordan News Agency (Petra) on the occasion of the Russian National Day, the ambassador said the two countries set the tone for our undertakings bilaterally, regionally and at the international arena.
"Amman and Moscow conduct an unceasing coordination on a number of pressing international and regional issues on the agenda, where the major part of the frank political dialogue is devoted to the situation in the Middle East," he added.
The ambassador appreciates Jordan's efforts in promoting peace and security, ensuring stability and opportunities necessary for resolving current crises.
Regarding the economic cooperation between the two countries the Russian ambassador said "I would like to highlight that 2018 was a landmark for the Russia-Jordanian bilateral trade. Trade volume reached a record level of 602.5 million US dollars," he said, adding " there is a serious potential for more progress in our trade and mutual economic cooperation. The leading role in achieving this aim belongs to the Intergovernmental Russian-Jordanian Commission for the development of Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation."
" The 4th session of this commission was held in November 2018 in Amman, where the two parties have agreed on a set of measures aimed at diversifying the efficiency of the cooperation in the fields of mutual interest such as energy, industry, agriculture, transport, tourism, education and others," he further added.
Desiatnikov noted that "the legal basis for the Russian-Jordanian interaction in this field is provided by the Protocol of cooperation signed in 2017 between the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the Jordan Investment Commission.
Concrete projects included a car dealer center "LADA Trading" which is successfully operating in Amman and is planning to extend its network by opening showrooms in different parts of the country. Our cooperation in medicine is also going strongly, " he explained, adding "there are also some other additional promising projects in different spheres."
