(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) A Sri Lankan model/actress has played down a video showing her being assaulted by a man.

Piumi Hansamali told Colombo Gazette (Sinhala) that the assault had taken place some four months ago and that she had not filed a Police complaint.

The video going viral on social media shows her being pushed to the ground in a garden and assaulted by a man in the presence of at least one other person.

The man places his foot on her neck and assaults her a number of times.

Hansamali is seen trying to get up but is pushed back to the ground.

A witness is seen trying to mediate and stop the assault but the assault continues.

Commenting on the video, Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva said that if the incident actually took place then it goes to show how inhumane some men in our society can be. (Colombo Gazette)
