Electricity prices in Turkey see increase after local elections

(MENAFN) Turkey raised the price of electricity by 37 percent after Sunday's domestic polls, according to news website Gazete Duvar.

Gazete Duvar made the calculations based on a resolution in the Official Gazette , which set out the price at which power producers sell electricity to providers.

Turkey's government had frozen electricity prices for a number of months ahead of the polls.

It had postponed price upsurges in order to slow inflation and enhance economic development.
