Qatar- Shura Council, APU sign MoU

The Shura Council signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the African Parliamentary Union (APU) for parliamentary cooperation between both sides.

From the Qatari side the MoU was signed by the Shura Council Speaker, H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, and for the APU side the MoU was signed by head of APU and President of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso, Alassane Bala Sakande.

Under the MoU, they agreed to set up a work programme for cooperation between both parties to strengthen bonds and exchange experiences and joint initiatives on issues of mutual concern, as well as strengthen the presence and role of both sides in international parliamentary forums.

This came during the meeting between the two sides, where they discussed the parliamentary relations and ways of boosting them, as well as the relations between the Shura Council and the National Assembly of Burkina Faso. They also reviewed issues on the agenda of the 140th session of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) which begins its meetings in Doha on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by the Member of the Shura Council and chairman of the Qatar-Africa friendship group, Mohammed bin Ali Al Henzab, members of the group and the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Qatar, Adama Compaore.
