Oppositions draw plan for power transition in Algeria

(MENAFN) A plan was formed between leading Algerian opposition figures and parties for an easy transition of power.

Talks were held in Algiers among opposition parties, personalities, activists and trade union representatives in order to come up with a plan.

During the meeting, oppositions decided to regroup under the new brand of "Forces of Change in Support of the People Choice."

Under the roadmap, "a collegial presidential authority" will be formed in order to manage a short transition period that does not exceed six months.

It would be "composed of credible, honest and competent national personalities who should adopt the demands of the people, as they would be tasked with the mission of forming a government of national competencies to manage current affairs of the country, establish an independent national body for organizing elections, and amend the electoral law to guarantee fair and free elections."
