Oman- Comex opens under theme 'Digitalising the Future'

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- H H Sayyid Kamil bin Fahad bin Mahmoud al Said, Assistant Secretary General in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, inaugurated on Sunday the 29th edition of Comex, Oman's leading event for IT, telecom and technology at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC).

Organised by Oman International Trade & Exhibitions, the event is being held under the patronage of the Information Technology Authority (ITA).

Over 110 premier exhibitors and 15 countries are showcasing products in the three-day exhibition being held under the theme 'Digitalising the Future'.

Besides local companies, firms from Canada, the US, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, Jordan, India, Singapore, Japan, France, Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, Germany, and Spain are displaying products at the expo.

To keep up with the ever-evolving tech scenario, Comex brings to light dynamic segments that generate business success in the digital economy. The highlights of this year are Comex Business, e-Oman, and e-Lifestyle.

During the event, ITA's Oman government portal launched its first robot Chatbot: 'Manshood', which is an interactive chatting programme operated by AI technology around the clock. It mainly serves the public by introducing government services and highlighting local occasions, and brings the best customer experience. From that perspective, many other institutions are approaching ITA to create their own chatbot.

Sayyid Kamil said, 'ITA has successfully inaugurated this promising technology field in Oman through training and qualifying Omanis. Comex exhibition focuses on many sectors, including manufacture, oil and gas, health and tourism. Oman has to keep up with the 4th Industrial Revolution and apply leading technologies, such as IoT, Blockchain, smart cities and AI.'

Omar Salim al Shanfari, deputy CEO for Operations at ITA, said, 'Comex is a pilot ICT exhibition in Oman that attracts and encourages international and local tech companies to present their products in the Omani market.'

Comex is open from 10am to 8pm.
