Xi, Putin Confer in Beijing

(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday in Beijing, according to a report from a news agency.

During their discussion, the two leaders focused on strengthening bilateral ties as well as addressing important regional and international matters.

Their conversation was also anticipated to cover the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the recent summit held last month between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in Anchorage, Alaska.

President Putin made the trip to Beijing following his participation in the 25th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin, China.

In addition to the talks, Putin, alongside North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, will join other heads of state from 26 countries for a military parade scheduled in Beijing on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, President Xi, President Putin, and Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh convened a trilateral meeting in Beijing.
