Jordan- Foreign Minister meets with PLO Secretary

Amman, Feb. 10 (Petra) -- Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi met on Sunday with Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Saeb Erekat.
Safadi and Erekat discussed the latest in the Jordanian-Palestinian efforts to find a political avenue for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of a two-state solution that guarantees the full legitimate Palestinian rights, at the forefront of which is the their to an independent state on pre-1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The foreign minister and the Palestinian official warned that the status quo is unsustainable and called for kick-starting an effective international effort to end the conflict on the basis of a two-state solution and in accordance with international legitimacy terms of reference and the Arab peace Initiative.
Safadi emphasized that the Kingdom will continue to use all its potential to reach a solution to the conflict that ends the occupation and fulfill the Palestinian people's right to live in dignity in their independent state on their national soil.
Erekat lauded Jordan's continuous efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II to support the Palestinian people and their right to freedom and statehood.
