Kvitova claims spot at Australian Open final
(MENAFN) Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic claimed a 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 victory against Danielle Collins of the United States in the Australian Open semifinals.
Following her triumph, the 28-year-old Czech was granted a ticket for the finals of the major tournament.
In the final, the 8th-seed will be playing against Naomi Osaka of Japan or Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic.
In case Pliskova was able to snatch a spot at the final, the game would turn into an an all-Czech final for the first time in a women's singles at a Grand Slam.
