S. Sudan armed forces need to act as one

(MENAFN) Armed forces in South Sudan must join hands and act as one while the country executes a peace deal achieved in September 2018.

The call was made by Augostino Njoroge, Interim Chairperson of the reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC).

South Sudan ought to see the significance of their armed forces enjoying disengagement, cantonment and unification, stressed the JMEC chair.

Njoroge emphasized that "it is very important that all the armed forces of South Sudan are unified."

He further added: "with the rapid approach of the transitional period, their unification will be a decisive milestone for this agreement, which is why no effort should be spared in achieving this."
