DOHA: The Municipal Board of Villa Elisa city in Republic of Paraguay approved a resolution to change the school name of '3839 Marangatu to the 'State of Qatar in recognition of the state visit paid by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Paraguay last month and the school's students participated in the welcome ceremony.
Head of the city's municipality Ricardo Adolfo Estigarribia briefed Acting Charge d'Affaires at the State of Qatar's Embassy to Paraguay, Abdurahman Ahmed Alsuwaidi on the resolution to complete the procedures and the municipal board's approval of the resolution, during their meeting in Asuncion.
Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had paid a visit to Paraguay in the first week of October 2018. H H the Amir during the visit had held a session of official talks with President Mario Abdo Benitez of the Republic of Paraguay.
H H the Amir and President of Paraguay Mario Abdo Benitez had witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding between their governments at the Presidential Palace in Asuncion.
The agreements signed during recent visit by H H the Amir are for the abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, official and private passports, facilitating and regulating air transport operations between the two countries, and on co-operation in the cultural field.
The memorandums of understanding are for cooperation in the fields of tourism and business activities aimed at exploring aspects of tourism and exchanging experiences; in youth and sports aimed at exchanging experiences and exchanging or establishing sports camps between the two countries, and on judicial co-operation between Qatar's Supreme Judicial Council and the Supreme Court of Paraguay.
H H the Amir was also decorated with Mariscal Lopez necklace by President.
