Kuwait- KU extends cybersecurity initiative for 2 semesters


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Nov 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait University announced it will extend the "Cybersecurity Academy" initiative for two more academic semesters in 2019 and 2020 to train students of the College of Engineering and Petroleum.
The announcement was made in a press statement on the sidelines of the a graduation ceremony for 18 students who underwent a one-week training program on dealing with cyber attacks on Tuesday.
The statement added that the program is the first of its kind in Kuwait and is organized in cooperation with the US-based Raytheon Company. Through this initiative, Kuwait also aims to establish its first cybersecurity laboratory, it said.
The initiative focuses on skills-building workshops in cybersecurity to face the growing cyber talent gap around the world, the statement noted. Raytheon Company is a pioneer in technology and innovation, specializing in defense, civil government and cybersecurity solutions.
