Oman's Minister praises Qatar's educational standards

DOHA: Minister of Education of the Sultanate of Oman, Dr Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah (pictured), described Qatar's educational system as a pioneer and rich experience and stressed that Qatar's experience in this field is in line with international standards.

The Minister, who is visiting Doha, hailed Qatar's clear efforts in the education sector and support for it at the global level, while praising the initiatives of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.

She also appreciated the distinguished role played by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, higher education institutions and research sectors in the social, cultural and research fields and in the so-called ‘Stem' system in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, which indicates Qatar's vision for the future and that its educational system is keeping pace with the latest international developments in the field.

Dr Al Shaibaniyah explained that her visit to Qatar comes as an activation of the executive program of the terms of the educational and cultural cooperation agreement between the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman, pointing out that during the past five years many aspects of this program have been activated in terms of exchange visits of delegations in various areas, and their training programs, and the benefit of education and cooperation in the field of educational evaluation and curriculum development.

She pointed to a visit by an Omani delegation to Qatar, during which they learned about the Qatari experience in the series of science and mathematics, adding that a Qatari delegation visited the Sultanate, where they were briefed on e-correction and evaluation experience under the said program.

The two countries, she said, will further activate aspects of educational cooperation and the exchange of experiences between them, stressing full harmony between those in charge in both countries in these areas. Cooperation between us is ongoing and we will activate it more during the next phase.

Dr Al Shaibaniyah said Qatar is a sister country and our relations will continue at the same pace of cooperation and rapprochement. It is very normal between the two brotherly countries, she said.
