Takaful Oman launches innovative app for safer roads

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Takaful Oman, the sultanate's first takaful insurance provider, has introduced a new technology based innovative and powerful offering for everyone in Oman.

'SafeTakaful', a first of its kind mobile app ever to be launched in Oman, promises to enhance customer value significantly and sets a benchmark in the industry for insurance companies.

The launch event was held under the auspices of H E Abdullah bin Salim al Salmi, executive president of the Capital Market Authority, in presence of senior dignitaries including Sheikh Rashid Saif al Saadi, chairman of Takaful Oman and many distinguished guests on Monday.

SafeTakaful is a telematics app designed to record the driving pattern of the users by monitoring their speed, acceleration, mileage and phone usage while driving.

While introducing the new app, Sayyida Dr Rawan Ahmed al Said, chief executive officer of Takaful Oman, said, 'SafeTakaful is a new innovative mobile app that is being offered for the first time by any insurer in Oman. The revolutionary new app allows us to build a safe community on the roads of Oman in line with national road safety objectives.'

SafeTakaful app gives drivers the opportunity to look at their driving style with the help of the state-of-the-art technology already available in smartphones. Based on the driving, it gives its users a score, which can help them understand their driving style and take corrective measures to make the roads in Oman safer. The new app is available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Elaborating on the SafeTakaful mobile app functionality, O G Ravishankar, chief financial officer and general manager at Takaful Oman, said, 'The app leverages the use of an open Internet-of-Things platform to enhance and analyse mobility data that help drivers to keep track of their driving behaviour. The app captures realtime data from smartphone sensors to constantly study and learn from a driver's behaviour on the road, records them and presents insights into their level of safe driving across a number of parameters including maneuvers on the road, speeding, and mileage effect due to braking and accelerating. The app then allows drivers to see a score of their performance, which they can learn from to adopt safer habits, while it links back to incentives when it comes to buying or renewing a motor policy with Takaful Oman.'
