Extreme Sailing Series Act Six: Oman Air stays at second spot in San Diego

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman Air maintained its second spot after the penultimate day's action in Act Six of the Extreme Sailing Series in San Diego, US, on Saturday.

On a long day when light winds teased the teams, the seven international crews docked out of their Harbor Island berths and made their way onto the glistening waters of San Diego Bay for just two races.

With the wind refusing to cooperate, the two races saw Oman Air, skippered by Phil Robertson, finish second in both the races to keep its second spot with 157 points, five behind leader Alinghi, which won the second race and was behind Oman Air in the first race.

SAP Extreme Sailing Team won the first race of the day to finish just three behind Oman Air with 154. 'The two races today were pretty good for us,' said Robertson.

Standings after day three: 1 Alinghi (162 points), 2 Oman Air (157), 3 SAP Extreme Sailing Team (154), 4 Red Bull Sailing Team (136), 5 INEOS Rebels UK (128), 6 Element Spark Compass (110), 7 Team México (98).
