Afghanistan: 40 security forces die in Taliban attack

(MENAFN) Officials declared that 40 members of the Afghan security forces have died in a Taliban attack in northern Baghlan province.

The militants have claimed control over more than one military base and three checkpoints in the overnight attack, devastating all the military buildings, according to provincial council members Asadullah Shahbaz and Hayatullah Wafa.

The Taliban have conquered Tala-o-Barfak district in the same province for more than 10 days before the Afghan special forces managed to retaliate them.

Taliban militants have stepped up their attacks on Afghan security forces, their buildings and the Afghan government during the past few months.
