Vodafone Qatar connects Lusail City to the future

DOHA: An agreement signed by Vodafone Qatar and Qatari Diar Real estate investment Company today sets Lusail City on course to become one of the most technologically advanced and connected cities in the world.

The extensive agreement reinforces Vodafone Qatar's commitment to significantly grow its fixed line Network across the country and will see the business build a world class telecommunications infrastructure in the truly visionary single development that is Lusail City.

The landmark agreement was signed at Qatari Diar Visitor Center by Vodafone Qatar's CEO, Sheikh Hamad Abdulla Jassim Al Thani and Nabeel Al Buenain the CEO of Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company.

Vodafone Qatar will be the first telecom operator to provide indoor mobile coverage for the more than 10 buildings (including infrastructure and commercial buildings) owned and managed by Qatari Diar, in addition to superior outdoor mobile coverage throughout Lusail City.

Moreover, Vodafone Qatar will build an extensive, high-speed fibre technology network capable of handling speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (1Gbps) across an area that spans 38 square kilometres. This network will enable the provision of so called ‘triple play' services that combine voice, high speed internet and multimedia over IP, and which provides access to high definition TV, premium content, video on demand and home entertainment to thousands of the City's residents.

The City's businesses will also have access to a wide range of enterprise services including smart solutions and new applications such as smart security, asset tracking and smart metering. These technologies of the future will help the businesses operating in Lusail to optimise, automate and innovate.

Lusail City includes 4 exclusive islands and 19 multi-purpose residential, mixed use, entertainment and commercial districts. The Vodafone Qatar built telecommunications infrastructure that will benefit an estimated 450,000 people the eventual population of Lusail.
