EGEMAC consortium to set up Naga Hammadi transformer station for EGP 721m
(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has contracted with an Egyptian German Electrical Manufacturing Co (EGEMAC)-led consortium to set up a transformer station in Naga Hammadi at a cost of EGP 721m after winning the recent tender.
Gamal Abdel Rahim, head of the EETC, said that the XD-EGEMAC-XIAN-EGEMAC consortium will inaugurate the Naga Hammadi industrial transformer station with 500/220/66/11 kV and equipment of 11-66 kV through a turnkey system.
Abdel Rahim explained that the purpose of the project is to meet the expected load increase in the Upper Egypt region and within the Ministry of Electricity€™s plan to strengthen networks in Upper Egypt.
He pointed out that the EETC will self-finance the transformer station. The cost includes a foreign component of about $25m and ‚¬3m, with implementation extending over 12 months.
Medhat Ramadan, head of EGEMAC, said that the company contracted with the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) to implement two new power transformer stations in Cairo with 220/66/11 kV at a cost of EGP 300m.
In addition, EGMAC has won the tender for the construction of two power transformer stations in the city of Sadat in two areas, which will have a capacity of 220/66/11 kV at a cost of EGP 600m. The company will complete the project during the current year.
The company won tenders for the supply of 66-220 kV power transformers, ranging between 40, 125, and 175 MVA, and has experience in the implementation of ultra-high-voltage stations, including transformer stations in the south of Maadi (66-220 kV), Kafr Zayat (66-220kV), Ain Sokhna (500 kV), and Cairo International Airport (66-220 kV).
