Jordan- CPI rises by 3.3% in January and February
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Mar. 11 (Petra)- The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose during the first two months of this year by 3.3 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Department of Statistics (DoS).
The figure was the outcome of an increase in the prices of some commodity groups. Among the main groups behind this hike were transport that rose by 8 percent, tobacco and cigarettes by 17 percent, cereals by 12 percent, rentals by 3 percent, and fuel by 5 percent.
The most prominent commodity groups whose prices have declined are dry and canned legumes by 14 percent, dairy products and table eggs by 3 percent, fruit and nuts by 1 percent, and garments by 0.1 percent.
