Army-style hand grenade blown up in Oslo


(MENAFN) According to regional media reports, the law enforcement in Norway is investigating an explosion that rocked the heart of Oslo on Tuesday’s eve. An additional explosive device was found, prompting emergency alerts for residents.

The primary blast happened on Pilestredet street at approximately 8:45 pm local time, close to a university grounds and around five-hundred meters from the royal palace as well as the Israeli embassy.

Authorities issued a wireless emergency alert to Oslo citizen alerting about the blast as well as advising people in the district to keep away from windows following the discovery of the second device, identified as a “military-style” hand grenade, at the scene.

The message stated “given that there is still an explosive device in the area, the police wish that people stay away from windows. As of now, we are not evacuating the area.”
