Jordan condemns Guatemalan decision to move embassy to Jerusalem
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, Dec 25 (KUNA) -- The Jordanian government condemned on Monday a decision by the Guatemalan government to transfer its embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied city of Jerusalem.
The decision is a flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions, especially the recent UN general assembly resolution, Jordanian State Minister for Media Affairs Mohammad al Momani said in a press statement.
He argued that the irresponsible Guatemalan decision would fuel regional violence, and encourage Israel to continue violating international law.
Jordan, as the custodian of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, condemns such an irresponsible move, he reiterated.
Al-Momani said the world's peace-loving countries should support the two-state solution which calls for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with east Jerusalem as its capital. (end) ob.ibi
