Morocco's Former Prime Minister 'Humiliated' at Algiers Airport

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Abderrahman Youssoufi Morocco's former Prime Minister reportedly suffered a humiliation at the Algiers Airport as customs agents searched his luggage as if he “were a terrorist.”

The former Head of Government visited Algeria to offer his condolences to the leaders of the Socialist Forces Front (FFS) following the death of their leader Hocine Ait Ahmed on December 22 in Switzerland Le360 news website reported.

Following his visit Youssoufi headed to Houari Boumediene International Airport in the Algerian capital to fly back to Morocco.

According to the same source Algerian customs agents searched Youssoufi's luggage as if he 'were a terrorist not a respected leader.'

When the former PM arrived in Morocco and checked his luggage he realized that all of his personal belongings had been thoroughly searched and everything was upside down.

'The disorder was indescribable even in his most intimate belongings. This has affected Ssi Yossoufi greatly. He felt this was a humiliation' the same source said citing trusted sources.

Following the incident Morocco's former Head of Government is considering filing a formal complaint.

Abderahman Youssoufi was a close friend of the Algerian leader of the opposition Hocine Ait Ahmed whose body will be repatriated to Algeria on December 31 to be buried in his village near Tizi Ouzou in Kabylia.
