Turkey- At least 86 dead in Ankara twin blasts

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) At least 86 people were killed and 186 injured in twin explosions that rocked Ankara Saturday morning, according to Turkish Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu.

There were scenes of panic and bodies lying on the ground at the scene of the blasts, which occured near a bridge leading to the central train station in the Turkish capital, where people had gathered for a rally organised by leftist groups.

"It was a twin suicide bombing that left serious damage and destruction", the interior ministry said in a statement, quoting witnesses.

The peaceful rally, organised by the Turkish Workers' Trade Union Federation, was to demand the resolution of the ongoing conflict between the government and the separatist Kurdish Workers Party (PKK).
