UAE- 111 fatherless girls to tie knot in Surat
A philanthropic businessman of the diamond city will shell out Rs60 million for the three-day ceremony to be conducted on a 150000-square-metre open plot in the presence of some 70000 invited guests including the state’s first woman Chief Minister Anandi Patel.
Mahesh Savani who runs several schools and is into property business has himself discovered the hapless girls and calls himself their ‘father’.
The brides will be given household items and jewellery worth Rs400000 to start their married life. Savani will also bear the expenses of the couple’s outstation trip after six months and medical treatment during the first delivery. On this occasion flowers will be showered from a helicopter and ‘mehndi’ (henna) will be applied on the palm of 900 girls among the guests.
The CM will be weighed against silver and the money generated from the sale of silver will be donated for construction of toilets.
At least 1000 volunteers will attempt to get into the Guinness World Records by maintaining cleanliness for all the three days at the sprawling venue and best volunteers will be honoured with attractive prizes.
